flexibility. mentorship. growth.

learn what it takes to be an er nurse

The VEG nursing externship is for veterinary technician and veterinary nursing students, who are excited about emergency medicine and want to get hands-on experience in the ER. This flexible, immersive program puts students right in the action of the ER, giving each one the opportunity to shadow, observe, and work alongside our expert ER nurses and assistants.

Through collaboration and a focus on patients, externs get to roll up their sleeves to develop ER techniques, including:

  • Triaging emergency cases
  • Taking patient vitals
  • Caring for hospitalized patients
  • Processing lab samples
  • And more!

Each student will come away from the program with valuable ER medicine experience that will help shape their future careers.

credentialing support program

The Credential Support Program (CSP) is an AVMA approved program affiliation that prepares students to both work as a veterinary technician in training and take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). The program curriculum covers everything from pharmacology and clinical pathology to anesthesia and imaging. Since VEG is dedicated to helping our VEGgies expand their knowledge and grow in their careers, all of our veterinary assistants have a path to veterinary technician credentialing. Our credentialing support program includes full tuition covered by VEG, including:

  • VTNE preparatory course
  • Examination fees
  • Licensing fees
  • Registration fees and support for travel to large animal rotation

The CSP program results in a move up in the pay scale upon credentialing!
